Happy 5th of July!

Nothing says 4th of July like dousing a giant slab of meat with lighter fluid!

Hey all, happy 5th of July! Wow, what a party up here on Rock Creek!

We didn't have the daily report from the boats because things were getting going around 6pm at the house and guests were already filtering in. And I had a ton of work to do! (I wasn't the only one!)

Yesterday's blog has lots of photos of the prep for the smoked pig, and a couple casting contest shots. I'll throw in some more photos here, and caption them best I can!

Tyler and Jeff cut the chicken wire wrap off the pig after we pulled it out of the smoker:
Andrew Thorpe, Jeff Gelow, Penny Shawback and Vicki Thorpe enjoying the festivities:
Neighbor (whose name I forgot!!), Valinda and Owen Cowing signal their approval of the casters from the porch:
Grizzly Hackle owner Dan Shepard in the contest:
The Green Room/On Deck Circle of the casting contest:

Four men made it past the first round and into the finals of the casting contest: Drew Miller, Ben Hart, Bobby Kingsland and Kenny Kingsland with ref RCR:
Guide and runner up Ben Hart lines up to take a cast:
Ben's tan:
With MC Miller Barber on his right, referee RCR on his left, a trophy in one hand and a brand new fly rod in the other, Drew Miller is king this Independence Day:
Shootin' the breeze:

Drew Miller and Nicole Hagerman practice before the main event:
Master of Ceremonies Miller Barber delivers the invocation:
The grandstands were packed that day:
Whitney Peters takes a cast as RCR and the rest of us look on:

What a fun Independence Day!

Quite an 'extravagant' party. Looks like sooo much fun!
Hey, is that Trappers white beard in some of the photos?
Group 3, isn't he a great story teller?
