Rev Em Up, Group One!!

Hey Gang:

We are now just one week away from the official launching of Extravaganza 2007 and, wowie zowie, have we got treats ahead of us on all fronts:

Get this, Group One, as you are now in the official batter's box:

1. Fishing. The rivers are shaping up nicely, thank you very much. I just got off the phone with Jamie at the GH (or "The Hackle", for those in the know), who reports (in order of ascending fishability): (a) the Clark Fork is now stabilizing but is running high, with mayflies, golden stones and yellow sallies the order of the (limited) day--this is the least fishable river at the moment, as it is the "freeway river" into which all others flow; (b) the Bitterroot is beginning to fish in its upper parts, with an early showing of salmon flies, goldens, and yellow sallies with a sprinkling of mayflies--the "hopper dropper" rig is the order of the day--a large dry fly on top trailing a nymph from its hook; and (c) the Blackfoot (surprisingly "the most fishable of them all", per Jamie) with an abundance of salmon flies, golden stones and the army of mayflies that call that river home, starting with pmds and working up to green drakes.

2. Weather. The weather forecast couldn't be better. Click onto Der Blog for the latest five day forecast which predicts cloudy skies, high temperatures in the 70's with lows in the 40's (typically, MT evening lows will be half of the daily highs, making air conditioning an item for office buildings only). The long term forecast for Group One is for the weather to be "very warm" (a projected high of 88 degrees) on the day of your arrival, Friday, June 22nd, cooling off that night to a low of 50 with [perfect fishing weather] of "clouds to start" and then going to "very warm" on Saturday the 23rd, cooling off to 47 degrees that night, with a forecast for Sunday the 24th of "warm with sunshine"--highs again in the upper 80's and lows in the mid 50's. This sure beats the sub-50 degree with sleet experience of Group One three years ago!

3. Home. Well, I just got off the phone with a now fully engaged, if not panicked, Bruce the Contractor, who immediately reported, "don't worry, it will all get done", whereupon he then proceeded to tell me all the things left to do with little time to do them, i.e.: The new sod for the front lawn was a day late but "due any minute", the gutter folks didn't show up (again) but are "due next Monday" and, boy, he sure was "due a break." I told him not to worry too much, as all of the rowdies of Group One were headed to finish (post cocktail hours--Group One cannot just have one cocktail hour) what he had not, at which point he said "you're kidding" to which I said "no, I'm not" from which he then said "oh,oh...goodbye, I've gotta go now" and hung up. I do believe the thought of Group One tinkering in any way with his handiwork was a bit more than he could bear.

4. Der Blog. What a wonderful reception Der Blog has received, as it is now getting more that 50 visitations each day. Be sure to share the contact info (http://montana2007.blogspot.com) with others in your home and business family, as, for those who are interested, you will be able to immediately post your "Comments From The Scene" each evening from my spiffy, now repaired and now being FedExed to MT office computer, and, just like on t.v., you will be able to say "HI, Mom!" Also, daily photos will be posted by our on-the-scene, rookie CLG attorney Dave Stallard, who will serve as our Extravaganza Blogmaster (yes, he will take beer for bribes and we have an unlimited supply of that already on hand!). Highlighted "Stories of the Day" will be also be a daily blog feature--admittedly in advance mightily edited as respects the expected travails of ignominious Group One. May the Blog be with you!

So, Rev Em Up, Group One, as you have all of Montana in your future in now just under ten days. Check that Camp List (just type "Camp List" in the search section of the blog to retrieve that); get that guide gag gift in good order (yes, there is a prize for the best one of each group which, of course, will be blog fodder); polish up those polarized sunglasses; and be sure to reach out to me if you have any last minute questions or doubts about the great time(s) that you will soon be having in God's backyard.

Wake up out there, you Group Twoers, as you are right on the heels of Group One--don't worry, however, as (unlike two years ago when I severely underestimated the wine capacity of Group One) last week we took delivery of 25 additional cases of wine which, come to think of it, may not be enough to even get us through Group Three!

Best to all in anticipation of it all,
Rock Creek Ron

I checked out the guides at GH from their website conveniently linked through your blog. Looks like a great group of guys who really love their fishing. Great times ahead. Glad the weather is looking up. Tom S.
