Der Monday report

Greetings, Gang:

Moments ago I just came out of the time warp of, after having spent a whirlwind four days in God's Country, returning to his other country here in the Bay Area. In many ways, the blitz that I did will mirror that of each of yours coming up in literally days now: airports, shuttles, rivers, nature galore, wonderful people and, yes, fishing too.

On my Wednesday arrival, I did my final prep meeting with GH's Managing Partner, Dan Shepherd, and his trusty, invaluable Extravaganza coordinator, Evan Philippe, and all is ready for your arrival. Of equal import, just yesterday, Rock Creek truly opened up to fishing, with reports of 40-50 fish days starting to roll in like thunderheads.

Rain is the order of the MT day(s), as it has been raining steadily the past few days; and, to keep you up to the minute weather wise, Der Blog now has on its upper right-hand corner a direct link to Missoula's weather with a five day forecast popping up as you click on to it--thanks, Sarah!! This way you can check hourly to see just how the weather changes hourly. When asked about how the weather is in Montana, I often reply (a) I will tell you in 15 minutes what just happened and (b) what happened there is totally different to what happened just a few miles away.

Also, log on to Der Blog (we are up to over 160 hits now, as is reflected in its spiffy counter) and see what new artwork awaits your arrival--a three dimensional diorama of a section of the Blackfoot "A River Runs Through It " River, complete with bear, deer, a soaring eagle, rafts, drift boats, fish-on and more to behold with the magnifying glass provided by Bay Area (and former Montanan) artist Bill Christensen. What a nice addition to the house.

And as to those other rascals that permanently occupy the outside of our Montana abode, both Contractor Bruce and Landscaper Eric send their best wishes to you with their echoed hope of mine that they aren't there to see you upon your arrival--each continues to assure me, "don't worry, Ron. we are behind but right on schedule." The new front porch and replaced main building roof are nearing their completion stages as I left, however, but the landscaping still is a bit lacking, as the front yard still looks like a football field at the end of a long, muddy season--new sod coming in on Tuesday I am told (we'll see), and new gutters are supposed to show up concurrent with this Monday report to you (Id.).

My "Barry Bonds letter" (as it is now know in the local community) was a big hit within the greater Missoula community this past week and, for those of you who haven't had a chance to peruse it, you can click here to read a copy (with exhibits). Attached [see Ron's e-mail] is Lou's flow chart (which will drop dramatically with her next posting[s]).

If anyone is not fired up yet, take a real close look at your calendar and count the (few) number of days left before your arrival in the glories of the Rocky Mountains!! Kathy and I sure are fired up and we simply can't wait for your first new or renewed glimpse at just what this special section of the world has to offer. In addition to us, our neighbors are also looking for your arrival and return, as they know that there will be 21 straight nights of partying at the Clausens ("Night After Night," as the Extravaganza is referred to there locally), our wonderful outfitters anxiously await your gag gifts, and the flora and fauna of Montana, our center stage, is in full bloom and gloriously dressed for your premiere visit. I am in the Pt. Richmond office this final week before my month-long departure to be with you; if any of you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to call me on my private line. For those wanting to send things in advance to Montana, the address and phone number is as follows (this is also your Extravaganza contact info, folks):
Rockin' C Ranch, Extravaganza 2007
attn: Kathy Clausen, Hostess With The Mostess
[see Ron's e-mail for address and phone info]

"Oh my bags are packed and I'm ready to go..."

Best to all,

Rock Creek Ron
