Betting on Fishing is a Bad Bet

Above and below (click on the pictures to get a legible view) are the best evidence that betting on fishing is a bad idea, particularly when a now-veteran, former rookie is involved. Evolving out of a slow day on the Blackfoot in 2004 was the idea of "$5 for the next fish"; well, that has now burgeoned into a perpetual trophy (featuring the original two lost fivers, duly endorsed) and the rematch is set between now-three-time-champion Tim Rodgers and woefully begotten challenger Rock Creek Ron in Group Two on June 28th (to be overseen and refereed by traditional GH bet-guide Tony Reinhardt [who makes a living out of playing poker in the off season, by the way]). Of note, the "biggest fish" in 2005 was not a trout (if so, RCR would have won) but, rather, a junky squawfish, thereby forever bestowing upon the unscrupulous Mr. Rodgers the name of "Squawfish Tim."

Oddsmakers in Las Vegas say that The Squawfish will not Fourpeat, as this year the biggest TROUT wins!
